Educational effectiveness at all levels of the university is determined through the Assessment Cycle. Each academic unit develops goals/objectives related to its mission; these are, in turn, related to the University Mission. The goals and objectives are annually assessed based on stated criteria. If the criteria are not met, the academic unit puts into place strategies to improve.
СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø College measures its effectiveness with a variety of methods. Each department, college, or school has developed a plan for assessing institutional effectiveness. Assessment plans cover the academic year—June 1 to May 31. Assessment data are analyzed each year with reports completed in September of each year. Each academic program annually addresses objectives related to content mastery. Each objective is measured by a variety of methods. The assessment results are used to make improvements in the academic programs. Assessment plans for each academic unit are available on the institution’s local M: drive. These assessment plans and reports have been collected since 1998, so the institution has a long-standing culture of assessment for the use of improvement, specifically in its educational programs.
In addition to generating assessment reports, each academic unit creates an annual report that contains information used to improve the unit. These reports contain the following information:
Faculty accomplishments
- Presentations
- Publications & other scholarly work
- СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø-related activities
- Faculty load
Student information
- No. of students to graduate
- Accomplishments
Assessment of Institutional Effectiveness
- Tables with results
- Graphing of results
- Notification of barriers
- Goals for the upcoming year
Academic units communicate assessment results within their areas in order to communicate how students are performing.
