The Modern Language СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø offers a
Bachelor of Arts degree in the following six majors:

Modern Languages Major 

A combination of two languages with a required minor. Students electing to major in Modern Languages must complete СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø College’s core curriculum requirements (46 hours),  21 hours of one language, 15 hours of a second language, 18-21 hours of a minor, a 1-hour Senior Seminar, and general electives to meet the number of credit hours required for graduation.

Spanish Major

Students electing to major in Spanish must complete СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø College’s core curriculum requirements (46 hours), 36 hours of Spanish, 18-21 hours of a minor, a 1-hour Senior Seminar, and general electives to meet the number of credit hours required for graduation.

French Major

Students electing to major in French must complete СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø College’s core curriculum requirements (46 hours), 36 hours of French, 18-21 hours of a minor, a required study abroad experience, a 1-hour Senior Seminar, and general electives to meet the number of credit hours required for graduation.

Foreign Language & International Trade (FLIT) Major

Students electing to major in Foreign Language & International Trade must complete СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø College’s core curriculum requirements (46 hours), 36 hours in a language, 18 hours of a secondary business component emphasizing core business classes, a 1-hour Senior Seminar, and general electives to meet the number of credit hours required for graduation. Because Foreign Language & International Trade is a comprehensive major, no minor is required.

International Studies Major

Students electing to major in International Studies must complete СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø College’s core curriculum requirements (46 hours); 18 hours in one language; 18 hours of International Studies electives which include history, cultural, and Christian Studies classes; a required study abroad experience; a 1-hour Senior Seminar; and general electives to meet the number of credit hours required for graduation. Students have flexibility in emphasizing a particular career field while selecting electives. Because International Studies is a comprehensive major, no minor is required.

Language, Writing, & Linguistics (LWL) Major

Students electing to major in Language, Writing, and Linguistics must complete СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø College’s core curriculum requirements (46 hours); 54 hours of courses representing modern languages, English writing, and linguistics; a 1-hour Senior Seminar; and general electives to meet the number of credit hours required for graduation. Because Language, Writing, and Linguistics is a comprehensive major, no minor is required.


Language Minors

Minors are available in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. Eighteen hours of university credit in a specific language must be completed with six of the eighteen hours consisting of 300 level or higher courses. Certain language minors have a required study abroad component. For further information, please consult with your program advisor.
